West Weekly Connect: October 3 – October 7, 2022

  • UCAW: It is Utah College Application Week! Click on the UCAW Flyer to see the schedule for this week’s college visits.
  • FAFSA Night: Seniors, bring your families and get help completing the FAFSA on Thursday, October 6th from 2:30-6:00 pm in the Library. See the FAFSA Flyer to know what to bring.
  • PSAT: It is time for Juniors and Sophomores to register for the PSAT. This test helps prepare you for the SAT and is the test that qualifies you for the National Merit Scholarship. You can take the test on Wednesday, October 12 (B Day) or Tuesday, October 25 (R Day).   • PTA Reflections Contest: Do you enjoy art, music, or dance, or have an interest in writing, producing films, or taking photos? Then unleash your inner artist and participate in the PTA Reflections Contest! This year’s theme of “Show Your Voice!” is calling for your unique artistic interpretation. Submission guidelines are available online at You will need to create a PTA account to submit your entry, The deadline is Wednesday, November 9th.
  • Seal of Biliteracy: Seniors, do you speak another language? You can take the Seal of Biliteracy test on Monday, October 3rd in order to qualify for the Seal. Please see Ms. Lamani in Room 400 for more details.
  • Civics Test: Seniors, the Civics test is required for graduation. Those of you who have not taken or passed the Civics test have been invited to a canvas course with all of the information you need to take care of this. Do it ASAP. See Ms. Budge in the Library with questions.
  • IB Information Nights: All meetings begin at 7:00 in the Choir Room.
    • October 19: IB Information Night for students and parents of current 10th grade students accepted into the IBCP or IBDP programs.  Discussion will center on the courses and IB pathways students will select when registering for Junior year.
    • October 24: IB Information Night for students and parents of current 8th, 9th, or 10th grade students who are interested in learning more about West's two IB programs and potentially applying to one of them.  Discussion will center on explaining what IB is, the difference between IBDP and IBCP, the benefits of each, and the overall expectations of both programs.
    • October 26: IB Information Night for students and parents of current 9th grade students intending to do the IBCP or IBDP programs.  Discussion will center on introducing foundational concepts of IB such as the Learner Profile and IB Philosophy.  Introductory information about West will also be shared.
  • TRIO ETS: Join TRIO ETS for academic advising, career exploration, college admissions assistance, campus tour fieldtrips, opportunities to present research, and more! Apply HERE or pick up an application in Room A211.
