Dear West, High Community,

Welcome to another exciting school year 2022-23!

My name is Nanci, and I am the new Scholarship Advisor at West! I will be in my office Monday, Wednesday, Thursday, and Friday from 8:00a-2:30p. Please email me at Nanci.urcinogonzalez@slcschools.org if you have any questions.

My main role will be posting college and scholarship information regularly, mainly on

College Visits

Through fall, I coordinate in person and virtual visits from Admissions Officers of out-of-state colleges. While these are mostly attended by Seniors, all grades (and even parents) are welcome. This is an ever-changing list, please look out for the most updated list on the Instagram regularly.

  • Criteria: Senior planning to attend a four-year college/university, U.S. Citizen, 3.7 GPA, must excel in a broad variety of extracurricular activities. Active participation in community service, 2 letters of recommendation, transcript required. Merit based scholarship.

    Amount: 4 year full tuition

    Deadline: Sept 9, 2022. We limit the number of Applications we will accept to 3,000. If and when we reach this limit, we will shut down the Application, regardless of deadlines.

  • Criteria: High school seniors who demonstrate ambition and self-drive by outstanding achievement in an activity in school, community or workplace.

    Amount:$2500 - $25000(plus $1,000 for teacher)

    Deadline: Opens September 1st 2022. Deadline December 16, 2022, but only the first 10,000 applications will be accepted. Apply as early as possible!

  • Seniors. African American, American Indian/Alaska Native, Asian American, Pacific Islander American or Hispanic American. 3.3 or higher GPA. Federal Pell Grant eligible.

  • Outstanding high achieving, low-income high school senior. 33 partner schools listed on the web page.

    Letters of recommendation required. Ask your teachers in advance!

    Amount: Full four-year scholarships worth up to $200,000.00

    Deadline: September 27, 2022

  • Criteria:13 years or older. Legal residents of United States. Essay required -

    "If you could say one thing to the entire world at once, what would it be and why?" (250 words or less).

    Amount:$1,500

  • Criteria: Exceptional pre-collegiate musicians 8-18 years. Academic achievement. Financial need.

    Deadline: November 17, 2022

  • Criteria: Applicants must have DACA, TPS or certify that you meet immigration eligibility criteria(listed on website).

    Amount: Up to $40,000

    Deadline: Usually September 2022

    Website: Golden doors scholars

  • Criteria: Enrolled members of the Navajo Nation. Senior in high school with a letter of acceptance from the college or university to be attended. 3.0 GPA. US citizen or permanent resident. Intend to declare a major in civil, chemical, mechanical, electrical or environmental engineering or environmental sciences (e.g. geology, hydrogeology, ecology).

    500 word essay - “My role in creating a sustainable world.” Two letters of recommendation.

    Amount: $1,000 for up to 4 years of schooling (for a total of $4,000). A laptop computer or tablet.

    Deadline: The Navajo Nation Scholarship will open for applicants in September 2022.

    Amount: Up to $30,000.

  • Criteria: High school 10th-12th grade. U.S. citizen or legal resident. Attend or plan to attend an accredited 2-year, 4-year or vocational school in the U.S.

  • Criteria: High school seniors. Weighted GPA of 3.0 or better. Proven leaders and role models within school and community. Must perform in at least one of the 47 school sponsored sports.

  • Criteria: High school seniors with at least 3.5 GPA,26ACT or1200SAT scores. Demonstrate financial need. Exceptional academic ability. Leadership and service. Apply through common app.

    Amount: Up to $40,000/year
