Absence Excusals
- If a student is absent from class, the absence must be excused by a parent or guardian within 10 calendar days of the absence. Absences can be excused using the Absence Excusal Form.
- If it has been more than one week since you submitted the excusal form, please contact Student Services so we can determine the issue.
- Students absent due to a school activity (field trips, athletic events, etc.) will be marked Released (R) by office staff, unless the student is not allowed to participate in school-sponsored activities.
- If you believe your student was incorrectly marked absent, please contact the student’s teacher directly. Most teachers are best reached via email.
Tardy / Late
Tardy/Late excusal passes are available in the Main Office and Student Services for students who have a parent- or teacher-signed note excusing their tardiness.
- If a student is pulled to an office (counselor, secretary, administrator, etc.) during or between classes, the office will provide a late pass for the student to return to class.
- If a student arrives late to school without a parent note, they will not receive a late pass and must go directly to class. Their late or tardy will remain unexcused.
- Students with a late pass will have their attendance marked X (Office-Excused) by their teacher upon arrival to class.
Activity Hold
Students with three or more unexcused absences and/or four or more tardies/lates will be placed on Activity Hold.
- Activity Hold means students may not attend any school-sponsored social or extracurricular activities. This includes dances, athletic events, concerts, clubs, Spirit Bowl, theater events, or any other school social activity. Students on teams or in performing groups are not eligible to participate while on Activity Hold.
- Attendance Recovery: Students may be removed from Activity Hold through improved attendance and/or completion of an attendance recovery contract.
- A student may be removed from Activity Hold after ten consecutive school days with no unexcused absences, tardies (T), or lates (L), or upon completion of an attendance recovery contract. It is the student’s responsibility to initiate removal by meeting with an administrator during lunch or before school. Attendance recovery may include tutoring, school service through clubs or student government, a graduation check with a counselor, or completion of attendance lessons in a Canvas module.
