Seventeen West High Seniors Named National Merit Semifinalists

Seventeen West High Seniors Named National Merit Semifinalists
West High is proud to announce that 17 seniors have been recognized as Semifinalists in the 2026 National Merit Scholarship Program. This honor places them among the highest-scoring students in the state and across the nation. Out of 1.3 million entrants, only 16,000 students achieved Semifinalist standing.
Our Semifinalists will now move forward in the competition by submitting an application for Finalist recognition, which includes academic records, achievements, and a letter of recommendation. The National Merit Scholarship Program emphasizes the importance of this recommendation, noting that:
"Because every Semifinalist has an excellent academic record and outstanding test scores, the school official's recommendation of their additional successes and abilities plays an important part in the process of choosing Finalists."
