West High Robotics Excels at Utah Preseason Competition!

We are thrilled to announce the outstanding achievements of the West High School Robotics Team (a.k.a. Red Rock Robotics, FRC Team 3006) at the Utah preseason competition this past Saturday. Competing against a field of 25 robots from nine local teams, our students showcased exceptional talent and innovation, earning remarkable accolades.

Top Rankings:

Our three robots finished qualification matches ranked 1st, 3rd, and 10th! The 1st-ranked robot captained the winning alliance, while the 3rd-ranked robot led the 2nd-place alliance.

Student Spotlight:

Special recognition goes to Khangai Sukhbaatar, who almost single-handedly designed and built one of the robots. Check out its stellar performance in the autonomous portion of the game here, where it successfully scored preloaded eggs (whiffle balls) into the high goal, or Cliffside nest.

Veteran Team Excellence:

Our veteran team also impressed the crowd with the fastest robot on the field and a powerful turret design capable of automatically aligning with the target. Watch their egg-scoring brilliance here.

This incredible success wouldn’t have been possible without the dedication of our amazing mentors:

Lead Mentor: Alison Bulson

Mentors: Trevor Smith and Enrique Arce-Larreta

Thank you for inspiring and guiding our students toward excellence!

West High is proud of Red Rock Robotics for “cooking” and definitely leaving “no crumbs” at this competition. Stay tuned for more updates as the robotics season continues!

Go Panthers!
