RELIGIOUS LIBERTY ESSAY SCHOLARSHIP CONTEST
Criteria: High school Juniors and Seniors.
Write an essay in the form of a letter to your state representative, encouraging them to adopt or oppose legislation mandating the prominent placement of “In God We Trust” in public schools.
Amount: $500 - $2,000 (and trip to Washington DC)
Deadline: Postmarked March 6. No online.
U of U ACCESS SCHOLARSHIP FOR WOMEN
Criteria: Seniors. Must be admitted to the University of Utah. For women in science and mathematics.
Must attend an integrated summer science course.
Amount: Program valued at $5,500

U OF U ALUMNI ASSOCIATION STEVE AND ANGIE SMITH YOUNG SCHOLARSHIP
Criteria: High school senior. Incoming freshman at the University of Utah, Minimum GPA 2.5. First generation college student or underrepresented community. Demonstrate financial need.

ACLU of Utah Youth Activist 2020 SCHOLARSHIP
Criteria: Current high school senior. Utah resident. Minimum GPA of 2.5. Have proof of strong commitment to civil liberties through some form of activism addressing such issues as equality, racial justice, free speech, religious freedom, tolerance, and privacy.
Amount: 4 scholarships of $3,500 each.
WEST HIGH ALUMNI ASSOCIATION SCHOLARSHIP
Criteria: Deserving West High Seniors. Incoming college freshman for the 2020-2021 academic year. Demonstrate financial need. Not be a current recipient of a scholarship award(s) totaling $4,000. Academic performance, other scholarships, community service and, other factors may also be considered in the selection process.

JOSEPH JAMES MORELLI SCHOLARSHIP
Criteria: High school students with dyslexia, dysgraphia or dyscalculia who wish to pursue a career in Science, Technology, Engineering, and Math (STEM). Documentation of your learning challenge such as a 504, IEP or one-page letter from a teacher or counselor required.

MEN’S / WOMEN’S ITALIAN AMERICAN CIVIC LEAGUE SCHOLARSHIP
Criteria: Outstanding graduating high school senior of Italian ancestry. (At least one of the student’s parents must be of Italian ancestry.)
Both females and males can apply for both scholarships (but can receive only one).
Amount: $1,000 - $4,000

Criteria: High school seniors entering college as first-time freshman in fall 2020. African American, U.S. citizen or legal resident, 3.0 GPA, taken rigorous course of study in high school, demonstrated high academic performance in math and science, demonstrated financial need, commitment to pursue a STEM major.

UTAH JUMPSTART COALITION 2020 High School Scholarship Program:
Criteria: Juniors and seniors may apply. 60-second video about paying for college.

Diana Taggart Scholarship
This one-time scholarship will be awarded to a deserving female West High School senior who aspires to a career in mathematics. Must have taken math all 4 years of high school.
Selected winner must attend in the West High School Awards Assembly at the end of the school year.
Scholarship funds may be used for books, tuition, and other educational expenses at a college of choice.

Archie Archuleta Community Service Scholarship
Deserving West High School senior for dedication to serving their community.Applicant must have completed at least 150 hours of community service during their middle school and high school career, and 25-75 of those hours must be part of the Senior Service Learning Project (see application).
Edna Montes Ehleringer Scholarship
Renewal Type: Renewable 3 Times
Applicants must have attended Franklin Elementary School in the Salt Lake City School District for at least one year to be eligible. Preference will be given to students who graduated from Franklin Elementary School. In order to receive this award, the selected winner must attend the 6th grade graduation ceremony at Franklin Elementary School at the end of the school year.
This $1,000 scholarship may be used for books, tuition, or other educational expenses at a two-year or four-year college or university.
Natural History Museum of Utah Youth Teaching Scholarship

UTAH INDEPENDENT INSURANCE AGENTS SCHOLARSHIP
Criteria: Seniors who have maintained at least a 3.0 GPA and are active in extracurricular activities through their school, church, community or work. Financial need.

BLACKS AT MICROSOFT SCHOLARSHIP
Criteria: High-school senior of African descent. Plan to pursue a degree in engineering, computer science, information systems, or business programs (finance, business administration or marketing). West High Alumni Association Scholarship Program
Class of 2020
Each year, the West High Alumni Association aims to help graduating West High seniors pursue their higher education goals.
The number of scholarships awarded each year varies, but are awarded to deserving West High seniors who are committed to pursuing a college education and demonstrate financial need.
Minimum Eligibility Requirements
• Be an incoming college freshman for the 2020-2021 academic year
• Demonstrate financial need
• Demonstrate a commitment to pursuing a college education
• Not be a current recipient of a scholarship award(s) totaling $4,000
• Academic performance, other scholarships, community service and, other factors may also be
considered in the selection process
• Agree to join the WHAA Mentorship Program
• Agree to provide follow-up information, such as grades or credit hours, regarding the recipient’s college experience to WHAA (for informational purposes only)
• Complete the online scholarship application by Friday, March 13 at 11:59 p.m.
• Answer the following short answer questions:
o Please explain your need for financial assistance (250 words)
o Tell us about your family. (250 words)
o What are your academic and career goals? Have you decided on a major? If yes, provide
details. (250 words)

Letter of Recommendation
Letter of recommendation from a teacher, coach, West High faculty/staff, community
professional or similar mentor.
WHAA strongly encourages applicants to seek approval from their recommender before
submitting their information.
